“Lynx canadensis” ranges over most of Canada, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska and is one of three members of the cat family found in North America. After mating in February or March, the female lynx gives birth approximately two months later to an average litter of two to four kittens. Reared solely by the female, the kittens are weaned around three months of age and will stay with the mother for their first year. After leaving the security of the mother’s care, the young lynxes will stay together for a short period of time before they begin their own secretive lives.
